Katrina Coots Ward

Director of Partnerships and Development at Recreation and Park Commission for the Parish of Baton Rouge

Katrina Coots Ward is the Partnership and Developmental Director for the Recreation and Park Commission of East Baton Rouge. Her involvement in recreation began with sports leagues and summer camps as a child. In 1994, she started volunteering with Louisiana Special Olympics and served as a camp counselor, working with people with disabilities. She earned her B.S. in Therapeutic Recreation from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2005, launching her career at BREC.

At BREC, Katrina has championed inclusive recreation programs for all, as well as excelling in community engagement and cultivating relationships with both the community and partners. Katrina has presented at over 20 conferences, served on various community boards and committees, and spent five years on the LRPA Executive Board. She is a dedicated advocate for recreation, highlighting its benefits for quality of life, self-expression, and personal satisfaction.
