Christian Merfeld

Director of Communications and Public Relations at Boston Harbor Now

Christian Merfeld is a senior communication professional with a decade of experience in marketing and public relations for parks and outdoor areas. As an immigrant and refugee from the Cambodian Civil War, Christian is dedicated to creating inclusive spaces and amplifying underrepresented voices. He is a BIPOC, queer professional with documented neurodivergence, advocating for representation and equity in the outdoor industry.

Christian excels in facilitating communities’ adoption of emerging technologies and uses a data-driven approach. He led the launches of location-based mobile gaming and digital payment platforms in Greater Boston. At Boston Harbor Now, he heads the “Waterfront Data Project”, analyzing public waterfront open space usage through mobility data and surveys.

Christian holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History of Art from Brandeis University and has dedicated over a decade to advocating for equitable spaces.
