Collaborating with Private Landowners for Parks and Public Spaces

Panel Dialogue

Acquiring new land for parks is one of the more vexing challenges facing agencies and their partners today. As a result, many are finding new ways to collaborate with private landowners, which is the focus of this panel dialogue.

Panelists will speak on the critical intersection of city park systems with land development policies, focusing on the role of developers in creating public parks, addressing historical inequities, and providing recommendations for promoting park equity. They will highlight coordination, funding, and governance challenges faced by public spaces under a multi-landowner model, and offer insights into aspects of park development, design, and equity when working with private landowners in publicly accessible urban spaces.
