Melody Alcazar

Program Manager at City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department

Melody joined the City of Austin’s Parks & Recreation Department in 2018 as the Program Manager for the Cities Connecting Children to Nature initiative. Prior to the City, she worked at Keep Texas Beautiful, the Dallas Zoo, and the San Antonio Zoo managing nature-based family programming and exhibits. She is a member of Austin Independent School District’s Environmental Stewardship Advisory Committee, Texas Children in Nature Network Austin Collaborative, and the state steering committee for Texas Children in Nature Network.

Melody was born and raised in Austin but went away for college where she received and B.S. in Zoology from Auburn University and an M.S. in Environmental Science from the University of New Haven. She lives in Buda with her husband and daughters.
