Associate Professor & Extension Specialist at Texas A&M AgriLife Extension

Jamie Rae Walker (Ph.D.), a community capacity-building expert, specializes in continuing education, planning, and applied research and technical assistance. She has facilitated participatory, applied research for over 25 years focusing on park systems, open spaces, community development, and co-production.

Jamie Rae’s outreach accomplishments are due in part to the over $9 million in funding she has helped acquire and manage. She supports community champions in rural and urban settings working on locally driven planning, policy, feasibility, and sustainable implementation.

Dr. Walker’s most recently published works include the NRPA Management book Marketing chapter and peer-reviewed work on Community Readiness. Jamie Rae currently serves as an Associate Professor and the Urban and Municipal Parks Extension Specialist for Texas A&M AgriLife Extension.
