James Pasternak

Councillor at City of Toronto

James was first elected to Toronto City Council in 2010. He was re-elected in 2014, 2018 and 2022. James has been a leader in enhancing and improving parks, building new parks, leading community consultations, advocating for the purchasing of lands for new parks, and negotiating land development agreements that include parkland dedication and acquisition.

James has been on the standing committee at Toronto City Hall that manages parks policy for 8 of the twelve years he has been on Council. He has mastered the vital role of the elected official in building and expanding parks and would like to share his insights. James has a proven record in getting things done in parks and has over a decade of success working with city staff to advance new ideas in community engagement, parks funding, and explaining the value of parks in local neighborhoods.
