Jalisa Gilmore

Senior Manager of Environmental Justice Programs at Groundwork USA

As Groundwork USA’s Senior Manager of Environmental Justice Programs, Jalisa Gilmore supports the implementation of equity-centered strategies to address legacies of injustice and create green, healthy neighborhoods nationwide. She leads Groundwork USA’s brownfields technical assistance program and the Land Use Innovation Initiative, helping communities transform vacant or contaminated land into spaces that reflect the needs and priorities of residents.

Previously, Jalisa worked for the New York City Environmental Justice Alliance, a non-profit city-wide membership network linking grassroots environmental justice organizations. She worked to uplift community-led solutions and led community-based participatory research in NYC’s environmental justice communities.

Jalisa holds a B.S. in Environmental Sciences from SUNY Albany and an MPH in Environmental Health Sciences from Columbia University, specializing in the human health impacts of climate change.
