Susan Rademacher

Origin Park Park Curator at River Heritage Conservancy

As Park Curator, Susan ensures that development of the new 430-acre Origin Park fulfills the vision as master planned by OLIN. Her focus is on understanding the relationship of people to place, discerning how best to awaken and deepen that connection, and supporting that relationship so that everyone thrives. She applies principles and practices developed over three decades on the cutting edge of parks and recreation to benefit the community’s public health, environmental quality, and local economy. Prior to Origin, Susan served as Park Curator for the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy and, in Louisville, as the first President of the Olmsted Parks Conservancy/Assistant Director of Metro Parks. Susan’s early career in landscape journalism, from 1977 through 1991, included the posts of Editor in Chief of Landscape Architecture and Garden Design magazines. In addition to her many articles and editorials, Susan has written or co-authored five books, lectured widely, and was an Adjunct Professor in the landscape architecture graduate programs at the University of Pennsylvania and Chatham University. She was a Loeb Fellow in Advanced Environmental Studies at Harvard University and is an Honorary Member of the American Society of Landscape Architects and the Garden Club of America, which awarded her the Medal in Historic Preservation in 2022.
