Miami Department of Parks, Recreation and Open Space
Maria Nardi leads the nation’s 3rd largest accredited parks system, Miami-Dade Parks, encompassing 270+ parks, 13,000+ acres of parkland and environmentally protected lands, 17 miles of beaches, marinas, golf courses, campgrounds, and heritage parks. The department is a recipient of the Florida Governor’s Sustained Excellence Award, Governor’s Sterling Award, FRPA Outstanding Agency Award; re-accreditation by the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA); and an NRPA National Gold Medal Finalist. Maria has dedicated her public service career to creating resilient communities through parks. She led the creation of Miami-Dade County’s Parks and Open Space Master Plan, a national model.
