Director of City Partnerships
AJ Pearlman is the director of city partnerships at KaBOOM! where she works strategically with cities to develop public-private partnerships to bring balanced and active play to all kids. Previously, AJ worked at the US Department of Health and Human Services, most recently as the chief of staff and senior advisor in the Office for Civil Rights. AJ worked in the Office of the First Lady at the White House during the Obama Administration as associate director for policy for “Let’s Move!” where she coordinated efforts to ensure that all kids have the opportunity to grow up healthy. At HHS, AJ led outreach efforts with providers and the LGBT community around the Affordable Care Act. Prior to HHS, AJ was a state policy attorney at Break the Cycle, a nonprofit organization addressing teen dating violence. AJ received her JD from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University and her BA in psychology from UCLA.
