Stephen Bentley

Assistant Director at City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources

Stephen C. Bentley is an Assistant Director in the City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources Department. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing the park system’s planning, design, communications, and technology. Over the last decade, Stephen has worked with elected officials, community, and business leaders on approximately $250M in park and recreation improvements across Raleigh’s park system. Stephen has extensive experience in master planning, community engagement, partnerships, public space design, and communication strategies. He has worked for public agencies at the federal, state, county, and local levels over his 20-year career. The values that guide Stephen’s work include collaboration, inclusion, and empowerment.

Stephen has a Bachelor of Science in Recreation and Leisure Services Management from East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania and a Master of Science in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Administration from Michigan State University.
