Stefan Kosovych, Ph.D., is a Historian at Independence National Historical Park. Prior to joining the National Park Service in 2021, Stefan served as an artillery officer in the U.S. Army for four years and attended graduate school in History. He earned an M.A. in History from The Citadel in 2011 and a Ph.D. in History from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2020.
Stefan works as a Historian in the Cultural Resource Management Division of Independence National Historical Park. The main components of his job involve conducting historical research, assisting with the managing of contracted projects, reviewing large exhibits, answering inquiries from the public, and acting as the compliance advisor for history for the National Historical Preservation Act. Stefan enjoys researching the history of Independence National Historical Park and conveying it to the global public.
