Ray Smeriglio is the Chief of Staff for the City of Philadelphia’s Rebuild initiative. As Chief of Staff, Ray oversees the communications and fundraising teams, coordinates intergovernmental affairs, and supports the Executive Director in strategic planning for the department.
Formerly, Ray was the Head of External Relations & Partnerships for Philadelphia-based company, Saxbys. Ray led Saxbys’ overall media, public relations, and communications strategy – overseeing external communications for the brand. Additionally, Ray led the organization’s growth and expansion strategy primarily through the execution and expansion of Saxbys’ Experiential Learning Platform.
Prior to Saxbys, Ray worked on fundraising teams at Villanova & Temple University – raising funds for strategic initiatives for the institutions. Outside of work, Ray serves on the Mayor’s Millennial Advisory Committee, the Board of Directors for the Fairmount Water Works, and chairs Back on My Feet Philadelphia’s Young Leaders Association. Ray holds an undergraduate degree from Temple University in Strategic Communications.
