Nate directs the landscape practice at RIOS with a focus on equitable and engaging public spaces. His interest in landscape design as storytelling drew him to Los Angeles after time in Seattle and an MLA from Harvard University. Nate’s urban park work in Denver, Houston, Seattle, Los Angeles, and Palm Springs transforms robust community input into authentic gathering places.
Nate teaches and lectures on landscape design at universities and conferences around the country. He has been active with the Landscape Architecture Foundation and the Cultural Landscape Foundation. Nate’s current work is focused on thermal comfort in communities that experience extreme heat.
