Mindy Watts, AICP, is a Principal at Interface Studio, a planning and urban design firm based in Philadelphia that has won national awards for excellence in equity, grassroots initiatives, and public outreach. In her 17 years at Interface, Mindy has worked on projects ranging from citywide policy strategies to neighborhood and corridor plans, as well as research projects for community-driven advocacy efforts.
Her experience includes multiple citywide equitable park investment strategies, beginning with data collection and analysis that provided the foundation for Philadelphia’s Rebuilding Community Infrastructure program (Rebuild). Collaborating with the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, Mindy led the Restoring Pittsburgh’s Parks initiative on behalf of Interface Studio, which was recognized with a National Parks and Recreation Association Social Equity Award in 2020. She is currently working with the Parks Alliance of Louisville and Louisville Parks and Recreation on a similar effort, Louisville Parks for All.
Mindy holds a Master in City Planning from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Cornell University. With her background in printmaking, Mindy brings an artistic sensibility to her planning work and the graphic communication and public engagement that Interface Studio emphasizes. She currently serves on the board of The Village of Arts and Humanities in North Philadelphia.
