Miguel B. Treviño studied economics at Tec de Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico. His passion for public service inspired him to study Political Science at Columbia University and Economic Development at the London School of Economics.
As a public servant, Mayor Treviño has served in the Department of Commerce and Industrial Development leading parallel agreements of NAFTA. Mr. Treviño, as a committed citizen, founded Grupo Oaxaca, an activist group that proposed the current Federal Transparency Act in Mexico.
As an entrepreneur, he co-founded a consulting firm specializing in risk management in mining, energy, and retail projects. In 2018 Miguel Treviño ran for mayor as an independent candidate for San Pedro Garza Garcia, ending a thirty-year single-party leadership in the city. He won
re-election in 2021 with the highest number of votes in the history of the municipality.
