Amanda has worked in the natural resource protection and education field for the past 20 years.
For the last five years, she has managed the natural resources arm of the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department which includes a $9 million dollar budget and just under 100 staff. During this time the city has shifted its view of parks from solely as recreation to vital natural areas that help protect against future climate change.
She has managed special projects including the response to people experiencing homelessness living on parkland and one of the first pilot projects about electric bikes and scooters on parkland in the nation. Over the years, she has created multiple volunteer and education programs.
