Since January 20, 2019, Al Bangoura has served as Superintendent of the nationally acclaimed Minneapolis Park System which encompasses 180 parks and attracts almost 30 million visits annually. He is a certified park and recreation professional and has served in leadership roles in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Charlotte, North Carolina.
Superintendent Bangoura is passionate about serving the community, particularly Minneapolis youth and families. His commitment to youth brought him to Minneapolis with a clear mission to increase financial investments and services for the city’s youth. Superintendent Bangoura is committed to breaking down barriers to access, use and park experiences. He is driven by innovation and trends that meet the needs of the community. He is committed to collaborations, partnerships and to listening to, and raising the voices of, all community residents and park users. He uses community input and data insights to develop strategies and make organizational decisions for the betterment of the park system and the millions of people it serves.
