Organic Park Lands Management

Panel

New Panel Session!

Advocates and government agencies are seeking ways to move toward more organic management practices for park lands and public spaces. But implementation of a seemingly simple idea of restricting pesticides and herbicides is riddled with challenges ranging from replacing long-standing management practices and product use, to educating staff and contractors, budgeting, and addressing the sheer size of publicly owned lands – which range from playgrounds and well-manicured urban pocket parks to ballfields, urban forests and other natural landscapes. Join this conversation to hear about efforts underway in multiple cities to move the needle on this aspect of the sustainability of public land in a sustainable way.
