This session will convene leaders who are looking beyond well established metrics, like tax revenues, job creation, and property values, and are pioneering new dynamic methods and lenses for measuring the quantitative and qualitative impacts of parks on social justice.
One example is the work of Interface Studio in partnership with City Observatory, a think tank devoted to data driven analysis of cities, and Reimagining the Civic Commons, a five-city pilot investing in civic assets. Interface Studio helped design and test a measurement system to capture the social impacts of investments in parks and public spaces on the pilot sites and in the neighborhoods that surround them.
During this workshop they'll share this new metrics framework along with DIY measurement tools that park professionals and community partners can use to measure their own work to create more equitable, engaged, sustainable and economically healthy communities. Learn also how to cultivate resources for data collection and communicate park value to stakeholders.
