Learn how Denver is incorporating nature play to provide opportunities for all types of play, including gross motor, fine motor, imaginative, solitary, and collaborative play. The tour will start at City Park where participants will meet with representatives from the Museum of Nature and Science to discuss the partnership between the two agencies in redesigning and building a nature playground that can serve as a learning tool for the museum.
While at City Park, hear from Design Workshop about their new Nature Score concept and see renderings of the First Creek nature play area construction in east Denver.
Learn from Adam Bienenstock as he shares his vision for nature play through challenging traditional thinking around play and learning while encouraging policy makers and audiences to embrace the awesome power of nature. You will depart City Park and visit three nature play areas in Denver: Grant Frontier Park, Pasquinels Landing, and Johnson Habitat. Johnson habitat has an area which allows families to camp in an urban setting.
