Grab your helmet and challenge yourself on one of Denver’s great mountain bike trails. Nestled within the Front Range, Lair o' the Bear Park is a Jefferson County open space park juxtaposed between the Denver Mountain Parks of "Pence" and "Little" and the starting point of this high-energy tour. The trail is 12.2 miles of mostly flowy single track with some small climbs and some fun, optional rock challenges. This mountain bike ride is along Bear Creek Trail, which starts in the Lair o’ the Bear and continues through the Denver Mountain Parks of Corwina, O’Fallon, and Pence.
Almost all the technical features offer an optional intermediate line. Some of the potential challenges include steep climbs, descents, large rock features, tight obstacles, and sharp turns. The trail is very manageable for experienced riders; however, intermediate riders will face difficulty making it through each technical feature without needing to walk the bike or put a foot down. The total elevation gain and descent is 1,637 ft. The trail is rated at the intermediate level of mountain bike experience.
